I was working away on the Astar project for most of this month. Although it did get a bit much just thinking about it in a musical way and so eventually I made these pictures on the theme of the voyage of Fair Annie.

Our rehearsals officially began on the 18th January, but we had already laid down the groundwork before Christmas, so it wasn’t too much of a panic! Thanks to the technical abilities of the wonderful Jenn Butterworth I uploaded the music onto the internet for the band to hear beforehand. It was such a great combination of personalities and musical abilities, I was absolutely astounded by everyone’s dedication and blown away by the powerful experience of just being on stage, and playing music with these fantastic musicians. When you come off stage with that feeling it is sometimes difficult to know what to do with yourself. We finished the afternoon with a game of Scrabble – and a lovely meal later, it was a truly perfect day!
