The year in review
» May 2006

This year I was the recipient of the Thyne Scholarship from the ESU, which afforded me the wonderful opportunity to visit Cape Breton as an unofficial ambassador and to carry out some research into the music scene there. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to visit musicians there, and interview them about their lives and music.

I was particularly interested in two areas: the new music which is being created there and the younger musicians who are carrying their tradition on. I am currently writing up a report and presentation to give at the ESU.

While there, I had many great sessions with musicians from all over the island, and am very much looking forward to seeing more of the folks there when I return in October for the Celtic Colours Festival.
